The Book of Joshua – A NEW Commentary by Kevin Conner

The exodus from Egypt was the first half of God’s redemptive plan for ancient Israel. The second half of the story is the entering of the land promised as an inheritance to their ancestors. The book of Joshua tells the story of conquest and distribution of that land. This continues the story begun in the Pentateuch and concludes with the Israelites settled in the Promised Land.

Today we have many questions about what was happening during this epoch of ancient history, including why God allowed certain things to take place, especially the violence and bloodshed. Nevertheless, there are many lessons for the 21st-century believer here – about leadership, pleasing God, and the life of faith.

It is a joy to bring these previously unpublished notes to you in the form of an Old Testament commentary. As always, Kevin Conner’s approach is one of preparing ‘seed for the sower and bread for the eater’ (2 Corinthians 9:10). You will find food for your soul here but also many seed thoughts and ideas that can be further developed into helpful truths and insights about God and his purposes for you, the church, and God’s world.
