Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon

King Solomon, the wisest man of his day, left us three remarkable books. Proverbs gives heavenly wisdom for everyday living. Ecclesiastes looks honestly at life “under the sun” and finds it empty apart from God. The Song of Solomon celebrates love, and points us to the most intimate relationship of all: Christ and His Bride.

Kevin Conner saw these three books as a picture of the Tabernacle of Moses: the Outer Court, the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place, each one drawing us closer to the presence of God. Drawing on his 2013 course “Proverbs: The Book of Wisdom”, enriched with stories and insights from the classroom, together with his study notes on Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon, this volume explores the fear of the Lord, the power of words, family and friendship, wealth and poverty, the wise and the foolish, and the love of the heavenly Bridegroom.

Presented in his clear outline style, these studies offer ‘seed for the sower and bread for the eater’ (2 Corinthians 9:10): food for the soul and a wealth of material for further study, preaching and teaching. Ideal for students, pastors, small group leaders and all who love the Word of God, this companion to Kevin Conner’s books on Job and the Psalms completes his studies in the Poetical Books of the Old Testament.
